If you live in New York City, it’s really easy not to leave. When you get ‘the itch’, it’s typically not from boredom but rather exhaustion/overstimulation. And while the city does a nice job of ‘greening’ whatever tiny strips of land they can, green streets don’t exactly provide respite or satiate the urge for nature. Hey, you can’t have it all, right?
Thankfully there’s Bear Mountain State Park in The Palisades. At less than an hour outside the city, Bear Mountain offers the lush forests and craggy hikes that’ll really scratch your nature itch. Just look on the map–it’s the biggest chunk of ‘green’ anywhere in the near tri-state area. I highly recommend it if you’ve caught that city fever.
The following are just a few pics from our jaunt last weekend.
