How often do you find yourself watching a film/video/tv show and recognize the location? If you’re lucky, maybe it’s even close to home - like you heard your hometown was being used as a shoot location for an upcoming film so you dragged your friends to see it just so you could blurt out “Hey, that’s my elementary school!” in the middle of the otherwise quite theater. Or better still, you’re watching an old movie and you recognize a 40-year old version of your local skyline - something only people who live in your neighborhood would recognize. That’s pretty cool, too.
Well, if you’ve experienced either of these situations or something similar, you can probably appreciate my own experience watching this video. My friend Candice showed it to me insisting it was one of her favorite videos. “I can watch it over and over!”, she said. So we watched it. About 30 seconds in, my breath held, my body clenched, and I shouted,
“Holy Shit! That’s my apartment!”
No, really. This video was shot in my apartment. Before I lived here. Don’t believe me? Come over and I’ll prove it.
(P.S. It’s a really cool video, too! Nice work, Mr. Curtis. You’re welcome back anytime.)
