Those who meet me quickly learn that I know a fair bit about computers. Shortly thereafter I (usually) fix their most significant computer problem. Most of us “give” in our own little ways, and that’s mine. Those I help are always appreciative, but I don’t expect anything in return.
Recently my friend Jordan, a talented musician, watched in horror as his computer died in my hands. I told him that his data could live on, but it was time for a new machine. So he bought the bullet (vis-a-vis a new computer), and thanks to Apple’s stellar migration utility (and Unix, for that matter), his old system was up and running on new hardware.
“Holy Cow! It’s exactly the same!”
“Yep. Exactly the same”
“Wow. I can’t believe it.”
And off he went, back to making music just like before. Most of the people that I help just say “Thank You”. Jordan wrote me a song:
“Michael Eckblad Helped Me Migrate”
