I woke up this morning to the startling news that New York is no longer the “Capital of the World”. You guesses it: the MGM Mirage City Center opens today in Las Vegas, and under the tag line, “Welcome to the Capital of the New World”. (!) Ooooh. New. Vegas.
Someone please tell me what the hell this is all about. I’m sure it’s just marketing, but even so: whose great idea was it was to build a world capital in the middle of waterless Nevada? Well, it’s 50% thanks to the newly famous Dubai World, which, I might add, is also the firm responsible for piling sand in the ocean to create palm and world shaped island chains, or as they say, archipeligos.
I guess all this news comes with the recommendation that you might as well check it out while you get the chance; before it all turns to salt.
